Things continue to go from bad to worse for former President Trump. Within the past several weeks alone, Trump has been raked over the coals for having dinner with white supremacists and Holocaust deniers.
He’s also been called out for demanding the “termination” of the American Constitution and baselessly attacking Republican Governors Ron DeSantis and Glenn Youngkin.
Even the former president’s announcement that he’s running in the 2024 White House race was panned as low energy and uninspired.
Earlier this week, Trump declared that he’d be making a “big announcement” on Thursday, thereby marking the one-month anniversary since he announced his 2024 run for president.
The announcement turned out to be nothing more than tawdry NFT cards that Trump is selling for $99 with himself abysmally photoshopped onto the bodies of an astronaut, Superman, and other characters.
The former president has been ripped up and down the internet for this. Though some of the latest criticism is coming from political commentator Steve Bannon, a fierce ally of Trump, as reported by Mediate.
A Widely Panned Stunt
Like many other Americans of all political stripes, Bannon made it clear that he wasn’t amused. The Trump ally said the former president needs to fire whoever approved his release of NFT cards.
Later, Bannon claimed he can’t “do this anymore,” seemingly alluding to his involvement with Trump and backing Trump.
Bannon also isn’t the first one to state that the individual(s) who advised the former president to proceed with a release of NFT cards needs to lose their jobs.

Other conservatives took to social media to state the announcement was poorly timed, warning that it actually turns off people who could potentially vote for Trump.
This NFT card collection furthermore provided red meat to Trump critics, who either already soured on him or never cared for him in the first place.
Another Major Problem For Trump
In the video announcement of his NFT collection, Trump even boldly (and incorrectly) proclaimed that he’s a “better” president than George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
This, in and of itself, prompted many Americans to weigh in and note their disagreements.
As Trump releases this card collection, he’s already collapsing in polls, with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis now considerably ahead of him. DeSantis has quickly become the favorite amongst Republicans who believe Trump’s time has passed.

Those in favor of a generational leadership change, along with folks who like Trump’s policies (but don’t like Trump), are also increasingly embracing DeSantis as a possible 2024 presidential candidate.
