Antifa is an extremist group that uses violence to push its anti-American, communist agenda. Conservatives have known that from the start, but for liberals and Democrats it’s been a slow learning curve.
One of the most heavily-impacted cities that’s been hit by Antifa violence, vandalism and disorder is Portland, Oregon. However Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler has consistently downplayed the issue, trying to play nice with the black-clad thugs even after they harassed him at his home and have made it very clear they strongly dislike him and everything his status quo liberalism represents.
Now Wheeler is done playing nice.
Wheeler: ‘It’s Time to Push Back Harder’
In a recent public statement, Wheeler said the gloves are coming off. His comments came after Antifa spent New Year’s eve throwing firebombs at cops, launching dangerous fireworks by the city courthouse, smashing windows and lighting things on fire around the downtown.
Instead of making excuses for them or talking about the need to hug it out, Wheeler apparently has decided to stop playing nice and crack down on the Antifa extremists, commenting that “it’s time to push back harder” and stop pretending that Antifa wants a peaceful solution.
In his new year's presser, Portland Mayor @tedwheeler admits that his efforts to de-escalate & compromise with antifa have failed to yield results. He condemns the violent extremist movement by name & calls for more to be done. https://t.co/1MJhHOxO1u pic.twitter.com/HtsSSM3dzz

What Else Did Wheeler Say?
In his comments, Wheeler admitted that his months of trying to play softball with Antifa have failed miserably and now it’s time to hit them hard.
“My good faith efforts at de-escalation have been met with ongoing violence and even scorn from radical Antifa and anarchists,” the Portland Mayor said, adding that “it will be necessary to use additional tools and push the limits of the tools we already have to bring the criminal destruction and violence to an end.”
Now that Trump appears to be on his way out the door and Biden coming in, Wheeler and Portland leadership seems willing to stop being agreeable to Antifa saying “Lawlessness and anarchy come at great expense and great risk to the future of our community. It’s time to push back harder against those who are set on destroying our community, and take more risks fighting lawlessness.”
In the past Wheeler has put the blame on cops for responding too strongly or laughably calling Antifa peaceful protesters standing up for civil rights. Now he’s finally done lying and appears to be ready to fight these blue-haired Maoist freaks.
Can Wheeler Recover from His Record of Incompetence?
When President Trump deployed federal authorities to stop the courthouse from being overrun last year, Wheeler blamed him and said agents were being too violent. Now he’s singing a different tune and wants to use “additional tools” to push back?
Additional tools basically means more cops and no more excuses for violence and defacement of public property. The problem is a lot of Portland cops have been quitting and the city has been cutting it’s budget like crazy.
Insurance companies won’t even cover many downtown businesses because of the ongoing property damage and rioting caused by the constant disorder and clashes. It’s no mistake, considering that one of Antifa’s main goals is to disrupt “capitalism” and ruin the economy to usher in their 33-Gender Communist Utopia or whatever exactly it is that these idiots want to see happen.
It could be too little, too late from Wheeler if we’re being honest. Portland is in a rough situation where Antifa has been let loose for too long: but either way it’s good messaging to have a progressive finally stand up to these crazed radicals.
