In what can only be categorized as a violation of the First Amendment, Biden chose to criticize Elon Musk’s takeover of social media platform Twitter during a fundraiser on Friday night.
Biden stated the changes to moderation would let users “spew lies” across the world.
What Biden fails to understand is lying, in and of itself, was never actually banned on Twitter. Also, a platform can’t exist without moderation, making his claims categorically untrue.
Seems Biden isn’t too keen on free speech
He then went on a lengthy rant about how the acquisition is bound to impact future generations.
However, if we look at Twitter now, only days after Musk took over, the only real change to the platform was the removal of left-leaning bias that the previous woke administration had.

Musk managed to get so much attention with the platform acquisition that more than 40 organizations across the US, including NAACP and GLAAD, sent letters to Twitter’s advertisers, begging them to stop financing it.
According to the out-of-touch crowd behind these letters, Musk’s changes allowed hate, harassment, and fake content to thrive on the platform, but if we look at what Twitter was before, nothing much has changed.
In fact, it’s safe to say hate and discrimination on the platform have lessened in the past weeks. The proper employment of free speech allows for different opinions to appear on the platform, instead of it being the internet’s woke echo chamber.

Musk assures that Twitter isn’t a free-for-all hellscape
Much to the dismay of his haters, Musk himself said on several occasions that he doesn’t actually want to completely remove moderation from the platform.
Rather, he wants to reel it back ever so slightly, allowing free speech to exist while also preventing Twitter from becoming a “free-for-all hellscape.”
In response to the letters sent to his advertisers, he fired back at Biden’s criticism, stating Twitter will no longer censor accurate information and he’s willing to resort to naming and shaming if this sort of slander continues.
In an open letter, he wrote the main reason he chose to acquire the platform was his idea of creating a common digital town square, where any opinion and belief can be debated without having to resort to violence.

Despite what the left may have to say about Musk, the fact remains that without a common platform, media soon begins to devolve into far-left and far-right echo chambers that only drive hate and division into our communities.
Unfortunately, the changes did come at a cost. Musk announced he will be laying off around 75% of the company’s workforce, likely due to their redundancy, once the majority of functions are automated sooner or later.
The Twitter acquisition was a victory for free speech in the US and all across the world. Biden’s disapproval of it should be a clear indicator of how he feels about it.
