There are many realities about Joe Biden that have given Americans pause when it comes to how he deals with foreign policy involving China.
Thus far, it’s a known fact that Biden and members of his family have done considerable business deals with the Chinese, notably during his time as vice president. This has led to questions about potential leverage that China could have on Biden behind the scenes.
Then, there are real concerns that the president lacks the fortitude and wherewithal to stand up to the president of China. While Xi Jinping is making aggressive moves to expand his power, Biden is making gaffes during critical international speeches.
Some of Biden’s latest remarks about how the United States will deal with China on the global stage, once again, have Americans worried, as reported by Fox News.
It’s Not Looking Good
During the G20 summit in Indonesia, Biden announced to the world that the United States is going to “responsibly” handle competing with China. These remarks from the US president also arrived after a 3.5-hour-long meeting with Xi Jinping.
Biden likewise announced in Indonesia that he and Xi talked about obeying international rules and competing in manners free of friction.
Joe Biden has again failed to address or even acknowledge China’s Cold War against the United States. His naive return to a policy of appeasement will hurt the United States, endanger Taiwan, and further embolden Xi Jinping.

Finally, the president alleged that when he met with Xi, both parties agreed the use of nuclear weapons in the Russia-Ukraine war would be inappropriate. This comes despite reports of China covertly giving Russia aid in this war.
Criticism of Biden’s Interactions With China
Here in America, the president was largely called out for his remarks that seemed to focus on appeasing China, rather than coming from a place of strength.
This is par for the course for Biden; though given everything that’s happening in the world today, many Americans would have liked to see Biden represent the nation in a manner that doesn’t entail bending the proverbial knee.
During a press conference, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre notably tried to steer clear of questions that involved Biden’s approach to China.
"What do you think are some misconception…that China has about the U.S.?"
KARINE JEAN-PIERRE: "I don't want to get into deep specifics…the president really think it's important to have that face-to-face, leader-to-leader conversation." pic.twitter.com/zoNGHk7rMf

When asked if China has any “misconceptions” pertaining to the United States, Jean-Pierre said she wasn’t going to get into the weeds about this.
Instead, Biden’s press secretary noted that it is his preference to have direct, one-on-one interactions with China’s leader.
Since getting into the White House, Joe Biden has repeatedly taken backlash for how he deals with not just China, but also Russia and other regimes taking increasingly hostile dispositions against the West.
Do you believe Joe Biden’s manner of handling China comes from a position of weakness or strength? Are you concerned about how the United States is being represented on the world stage these days? Please feel more than welcome to sound off in the comments area.
