Maricopa County Starts New Probe Into Printer Problems

In Arizona, Katie Hobbs and Kari Lake competed last year to become the next governor of Arizona. The GOP nominee, Lake, ended up losing to the Democrats’ Hobbs by close to 17,000 votes.

Since this loss, Lake insisted the race was rigged, stolen, and botched.

Yet, all of her claims to this end were tossed out of court, due to a shortage of evidence. Last week, Hobbs was officially sworn in as the governor of Arizona. Hobbs also gave her inaugural address towards the end of last week.

At this point, it is clear Lake will never concede or admit that she simply did not get the win she expected.

However, a new investigation happening in Maricopa County will undoubtedly be used by Lake as ammunition, per Epoch Times.

A Closer Look at the Underway Investigation in Maricopa County

Lake’s claims of election fraud are largely based on printer problems that emerged in Arizona’s biggest county on Election Day 2022. However, despite these issues, all voters who wished to cast ballots were able to do so.

The Arizona Republican also could not prove in court that Maricopa County’s printer issues led to voter disenfranchisement or election rigging.

Nevertheless, it’s still been confirmed that Maricopa County will be digging into how and why problems with its printers took place on the day of the 2022 gubernatorial race.

The printers that malfunctioned on the day of the election were the same machines used during the state’s August 2022 primary. Ultimately, independent specialists will be employed to get to the bottom of this issue and figure out what happened.

Backlash Against Lake’s Unfounded Claims

Despite losing in court, Kari Lake has continued to run with claims that Hobbs stole the Arizona election. Amid news that Hobbs, as governor, will be putting forward an election task force, Lake railed on social media.

One of Arizona’s largest papers, AZ Central, recently slammed Lake for deeming herself as the rightful governor of the Grand Canyon State. Likewise, critics on social media continue to pick apart Lake’s allegations of fraud, noting she wasn’t able to prove anything in court.

Currently, speculations exist that Lake is vying to become former President Trump’s vice presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Writing off elections as rigged and stolen when a Republican loses has largely become viewed as a litmus test of one proving their loyalty to the former president.

In any event, it remains to be seen what stems from Maricopa County’s investigation and what really caused printers to malfunction on the day of Arizona’s governor’s race.
