Lefty ‘Nut’ Admits Guilt in Shooting of Elderly Anti-Abortion Activist

In a new testimony to the radical left’s growing aggressiveness, Richard Harvey of Michigan, a self-admitted leftist “nut,” admitted last year he shot an elderly anti-abortion activist who was handing out leaflets.

Incident Matches Michigan’s Leftist Politics

On September 20, 2022, 75-year-old Richard Harvey shot and wounded 84-year-old retired nurse Joan Jacobson. She was involved in a door-to-door campaign against a pro-abortion draft state law.

The shooting, which led to Jacobson’s hospitalization and treatment of a gunshot shoulder wound, occurred at Harvey’s home in Lake Odessa, Ionia County, Western Michigan, Fox2Detroit reports.

At the time of the shooting, the elderly former nurse was talking to Harvey’s wife, Sharon, about “Proposal 3,” a proposed amendment to the state constitution of Michigan to codify abortion as legal.

The state constitutional amendment passed in the November 2022 election with 56% of the votes in favor and 44% against. Nevertheless, Joan Jacobson continued to do her activism, at the price of a gunshot wound.

In a new development in Richard Harvey’s investigation, he has now pleaded no contest to the charges raised against him – including assault and two other charges related to careless and reckless gun usage.

‘Right-Wing Nut’

Last year, Harvey told a local news outlet that his shotgun produced a shot while he was trying to knock Jacobson’s clipboard out of her hands.

Despite of his claims of an accidental discharge, Jacobson herself insisted his shooting at her was “intentional” and he was well aware of what he was doing.

Havey’s motivation for the attack has been revealed by the recording of a 911 call that his wife made after the shooting, LifeNews reports.

On the tape, Richard Harvey could be heard calling the elderly pro-life nurse a “right-wing nut” right in the middle of the call with the 911 dispatcher.

“She’s a right-wing nut,” the shooter declared after his wife at first complained to the dispatcher that the elderly woman wouldn’t leave. Only later in the call did Sharon Harvey make it clear that her husband had shot and wounded the pro-life activist.
