According to individuals who are familiar with the situation, former Vice President Mike Pence appeared on Thursday before a federal grand jury.

This grand jury is looking into the events following the 2020 election and the activities of former President Trump and others, according to CNN.

The previous vice president’s statements ran for approximately seven hours and were conducted in secret; so it is still unclear exactly what he revealed to the prosecution team reviewing evidence presented in the case.

His presence is a constitutionally significant event that could put the former president in legal jeopardy. Pence is seen as a key witness in the criminal inquiry being conducted by special prosecutor Jack Smith.

Ahead of January 6, 2021, the former vice president was ready to recall his initial dealings with Trump for the very first occasion under oath.

A federal judge originally decided that Pence might be required to recall discussions the two men had wherein Trump might have appeared to be acting dishonestly.

Trump frequently pressed Pence to ineffectively to stop the outcome of the 2020 election, particularly in the early hours of January 6 on a confidential phone conversation.
