Former CDC Director Robert Redfield is not just some guy off the street. He’s spent a lifetime in medical research and he knows what he’s talking about.
Recent statements he’s made about the likely origin of COVID-19 are rocking the scientific community as the mainstream media scrambles to return back to the official narrative.
Redfield appears to have simply got tired of repeating the same old lies and pretending to believe the official story. A lifetime in virology spurred him to speak what he regards as the truth instead of just spouting more mainstream conspiracy theories that the liberal media likes to repeat.
It turns out that President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo were right.
At least according to Redfield they were right: because Redfield strongly believes that COVID-19 is man-made and originated in a Wuhan lab.
‘I Do Not Believe This Somehow Came From a Bat to a Human’
Calling out the bizarre idea that the virus somehow randomly jumped from a bat to a human via a Wuhan wet market, Redfield sounded off recently on CNN with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, a rare spot of truth-telling on a fake news network.
Redfield pulled no punches, stating clearly that he believes the virus started at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), a place which also received a $3.7 million US National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant and was studying viruses in bats.
“I’m of the point of view that I still think the most likely etiology of this pathology in Wuhan was from a laboratory. Escaped,” Redfield said, adding “Other people don’t believe that. That’s fine. Science will eventually figure it out.”
While he said he doesn’t necessarily believe it was intentionally let out, Redfield said he’s confident it didn’t somehow magically just appear in bats but instead spread via medical researchers.
“It’s not unusual for respiratory pathogens that are being worked on in a laboratory to infect the laboratory worker. That’s not implying any intentionality. It’s my opinion, right? But I am a virologist. I have spent my life in virology,” Redfield said.
“I do not believe this somehow came from a bat to a human and at that moment in time that the virus came to the human, became one of the most infectious viruses that we know in humanity for human-to-human transmission,” Redfield added.

Mainstream Media Outcry
Following Redfield’s comments to Gupta, the mainstream media and political establishment went berserk, accusing him of spreading conspiracy theories. As an adviser to Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, Redfield is still a very important man, so angry progressives went after his job, demanding that he be fired.
“Dr. Redfield’s comments were inappropriate, unacceptable and beyond unfortunate. To think that somebody that is advising the governor would traffic in inappropriate assumptions based not on facts, but on gut or instinct, or whatever it may have been — it’s unacceptable,” said Maryland Senate President and Democrat Bill Ferguson. 7
Others claimed Redfield will contribute to anti-Asian racism if more people believe it came from a Chinese lab – intentionally or not.
State Senator Susan Lee said Redfield’s comments are reckless and contribute to a “very toxic and dangerous climate that could subject us to violence and hate crimes. People in my community, they’re terrified, they’re frightened just to take a walk outside.”
“When persons in very high office or in our public trust make statements like this that are not substantiated — especially during a pandemic — it creates a very toxic and dangerous climate that could subject us to violence and hate crimes. It puts a big bullseye on the backs of those in our community,” Lee added.
Fortunately, Hogan’s office is standing by Redfield, with spokesman Mike Ricci saying that “just as CNN’s anchors had a thoughtful discussion about Dr. Redfield’s perspective, all of us can do the same too.”
