Congressman Chip Roy Wants to Block China From Buying US Land

Congressman Chip Roy of Texas is taking the lead in the fight against the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

With Florida Governor Ron DeSantis blocking CCP members’ kids from going to Florida universities (and making the penalties tougher for those caught stealing technology or secrets), the gauntlet has already been thrown. 

China unleashed COVID on the world. They’re committing genocide against the Uyghur people, threatening Taiwan’s sovereignty and undermining the American economy. 

Not standing up to them isn’t an option. 

Roy takes it a step further by introducing a bill that makes illegal the selling of all “public or private real estate” to any CCP members.

‘All Across the Globe, China is Buying Up Land’

Roy’s bill is called the Securing America’s Land from Foreign Interference Act. Roy noted that “all across the globe,” the Chinese Communist Party is purchasing infrastructure and land in a bid to increase their “global power and dominance.”

According to Roy, the US needs to take this direct step in order to block China’s infiltration of the American economy and gaining such a foothold inside the US. 

A recent case that Roy pointed to was when a Chinese energy company purchased over 130,000 acres of land. This happened to build a wind energy facility near the Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio. 

Roy is right. China is not our friend. Therefore, any purchase of land or infrastructure inside the United States can be used by the evil CCP for leverage and having a foothold inside the country. 

The question remains about who exactly a member of the CCP. This question comes since many people are forced to join the party in China, even ordinary businessmen. However, it’s obviously the case that China is involved.

It’s also more than apparent that China gives the green light to citizens buying land abroad; after all, it’s in their interest for Chinese people to own land in enemy nations. 

More Republicans should be getting behind Roy’s bill and introducing their own anti-CCP legislation as well. 

The Bottom Line

The bottom line here is that China needs to be held accountable for its crimes and stopped.

As President Trump said recently at the GOP convention in Greenville, North Carolina, China owes the world trillions of dollars for the damage it’s done. We need to be very careful not to let China get away with what they did to the world with COVID. 

Chip Roy is right to put forward this legislation.

It’s important to get beyond the rhetoric and really block China from practical things, like land purchases and infrastructure investment.

They should not be able to buy up huge parcels of land in America and that’s just common sense.
