Black Farmers Association Chief Calls Out Biden for Breaking Promises Made to Minorities

The National Black Farmers Association’s (NBFA) president, John Boyd, accused the Biden administration of breaking its commitments to minority farmers and failing to take sufficient steps to ease their difficulties.

Program Eliminated

Boyd blasted the administration for eliminating a $4 billion debt relief program intended for black farmers, as well as other farmers who are minorities in a discussion with NTD’s “Capitol Report.”

“We switched from a 120 percent debt relief plan, which meant that your entire loan would be forgiven, plus 20 percent to cover tax obligations, to some kind of loan modification.”

The government went back on its word. He claimed the president had broken his pledge to the country’s black farmers and even other farmers of color.

Through the American Rescue Plan Act, the Biden administration attempted to cancel $4 billion in debt amassed by farmers of color in April 2021.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) made a $2.4 billion debt relief pledge to 14,120 farmers of color between the months of May and September of that same year.

Nevertheless, the program was contested in court cases with the claim that the USDA debt forgiveness’s racial conditions were illegal.

Boyd claimed Biden also breached his agreement to speak with him over FaceTime. According to him, neither the agriculture secretary nor anybody else ever met to talk about the problems that farmers of color confront.

Boyd requested a “complete farm moratorium” from the administration and urged it to “halt” the foreclosure of farms.

Boyd added he and other farmers of color, especially those of color, supported Biden. Though the forthcoming elections may bring about a shift.

Biden Administration Breaks Promises

“The president broke his promise to support black farmers in our nation. Throughout the election season, we’ll examine that. In this reelection bid, we’ll also keep a close eye on that,” Boyd stated.

Boyd also attacked the Biden administration for allocating funds to support foreign farmers, while ignoring the worries of American farmers.

Ukraine’s farmers received $250 million from the White House for infrastructure. According to Boyd, black farmers requested infrastructure assistance for almost 40 years, but have not yet received it.

Boyd asserts he has been seeking debt relief legislation for 30 years.

According to the NBFA chief, many farms are going into foreclosure and getting purchased at auction by nations like China. He claimed China should not be permitted to purchase land on American soil because it “still sponsors slavery.”

In a September appearance with Fox News, Boyd brought up the problem of Chinese purchases of American property.

“Whenever this farm moves, these lands shift from the control of American farmers to the Chinese government. We will never be able to get them back. From our gasoline to our lands now, we’ve pretty much handed everything to China,” he added. This article appeared in Conservative Cardinal and has been published here with permission.
